Project: Essential Skills Needs Assessment of the Trucking Industry in Canada

Conducted research to identify learning needs among the current and future Professional Driver workforce which are linked to essential skills and to recommend related development strategies. Discussions of the future workforce include a particular focus on Aboriginal people and immigrants.(2002)

Related work is in progress to implement a National Essential Skills Strategy involving assessment, upgrading, awareness and partnerships.

Canadian Operating Engineers Industrial Adjustment Services Committee

Project: Labour Market Analysis of Operating Engineers Trades and Occupations

Led the essential skills research component of a labour market study conducted by John McDougall and Peter Warrian to guide training and labour force development and adjustment of 28 trades and occupations. The consultant first benchmarked essential skills standards for each occupation and then identified learning needs by comparing the essential skills inventory of the workforce to these standards.
