Project: Essential Skills Research Project

& provides ongoing professional support to Canada's national Essential Skills Research Project. A sampling of related work includes: mentoring certified essential skills analysts (2002); co-authoring Step Into the World of Workplace Learning (2001); enhancing the essential skills profiling methodology (e.g., developing complexity rating scales) (1994-2002); delivering presentations at various symposia (2001); writing Essential Skills Profiles for publication on the HRDC Web Site (1997-1998); and, gathering data on occupational essential skills requirements through site visits and interviews with job incumbents (1995-1996).

Project: Essential Skills Analyst Certification Course

Delivered a training session to build competence and confidence in preparing essential skills profiles using HRDC's essential skills profiling methodology (2002). It focused on the use of open-ended interviews to gather data and rating scales to analyze the complexity of job tasks-two of the methodology's distinguishing features. Participants achieving a mark of 70% of more received certification as essential skills analysts by Bow Valley College.
