Adapted the DACUM methodology to develop
national occupational standards outlining the skills and knowledge
requirements for four occupations: Dispatcher (1999); Professional
Driver (2000); Professional Driver Trainer (2002); and, Transportation
Safety Professional (2002). Also established the corresponding
standards for essential skills. This information is being
used to develop human resource products and services related
to recruitment, training and retention.
The project involved working with a
Steering Committee for each occupation and cross-Canada consultations
among industry stakeholders using quantitative (e.g., survey)
and qualitative data-gathering techniques (e.g., focus groups,
interviews).
